Tutors 2018
Pat George
Pat has been a Ceramic Artist for over 30 years. In 1990 while living in England she taught ceramics and worked with Harry Frazer, a well known English potter and also for Potclays in Stoke-on-Trent. She worked in the Lambourne Studio in Berkshire as a tutor for 3 years teaching ceramics.
Pat came across mosaic for the first time in the early 80’s on Waiheke Island where she helped Verliska Campaign to mosaic the local kindergarten entrance. She was hooked. Mosaic art challenges and inspires her to find new ways of developing ideas and she's always on the lookout for different materials to use, more ideas to try out.
Pat's mosaic panels feature many different materials such as stained glass, vitreous glass tiles, tempered glass, mirror tiles, ceramic tiles, glass nuggets, glass beads, stone pebbles, milleflori, flax, paua, shells, drift wood, sea glass, bull kelp -whatever the sea leaves for her on the beaches. She has shared her knowledge of mosaic techniques through teaching Intellectual Disabled Clients at Kaurilands Skills Centre Tokatoka for 5 years. She now works from home in her studio with her husband Steve where they both create new ideas for garden mosaic sculptures. They share their knowledge teaching mosaic classes and weekend workshops at their studio, Foxhanger Studio, Matakohe.
