Rachel is a largely a self-taught artist that started her love of creating almost a decade ago. She works in both acrylics and watercolours with the addition of illustrative pen detailing to her work. Rachel loves to experiment with paint effects, colour, form and shape while adding illustrative hand detail to draw the viewer in. This allows her to layer up the detail and effects, adding further depth and fun to her work. Rachel works to find a balance using colour, line work and contrast to form a harmonious piece creating sometimes intangible and obscure realms. Rachel is drawn to seeing where a piece takes her, learning and exploring through her work creates a joy filled process which she hopes shows though in the finished piece. Rachel exhibit’s regularly in local art shows, competitions, art sales and selected retailers alongside her website. Rachel's home studio is based on Aucklands North shore but she spends a lot of time at her holiday home in Mangawhai Heads.
