Laura Worrall
Laura Worrall lives with her family on the picturesque Kaipara Harbour working from a home studio.
Growing up in a family of artists, every room was adorned with paintings and sketches, which made the idea of becoming an artist an attainable goal. Left to find her own path, Laura is a self taught artist working predominantly in portraiture.
She loves to weave stories and hidden meaning into her work. Painting primarily in oils, she also enjoys working in watercolour, charcoal and chalk pastel, the latter especially with life drawings. Lately she has been exploring printmaking, particularly solar etching as this allows her detailed drawings to be executed closely to the original.
Together with her partner Mike Hooton of Magpie Pottery Studio, they often collaborate on ceramic artworks. Their upcoming Duo exhibition 'Unearthed' (Sep 2020) will showcase some of these works along with their individual collections.
