Averil Lewis-Roberts is a New Zealand painter and teacher who works in response to the environment and her concerns for environmental restoration and respect for both the land and the marine environment.
Her paintings often reflect her connection with her Northland rural and costal heritage as memories of experiences. She works on a range of surfaces to create both screens and paintings. She uses predominantly acrylic paints and gold leaf. Her mark making is gestural and expressive with colour singing lush, light, joyful and rich.
