Fleur Mitchell
Primarily paints using acrylics, watercolours and other mixed media. Additionally, print making, mosaic sculpture, and flax weaving of traditional kete.
Fleur has a lifelong passion for arts and graduated from Northland Polytechnic with a Diploma in Applied Arts in 1993. She has been influenced by artists such as Edvard Munch, Wassily Kandinsky, and Henri Matisse. Maintaining her art practice Fleur however has rarely exhibited as her side hustle of parenting and nursing was keeping her busy. In recent years she has begun to exhibit paintings that express her love of colour and nature. With a focus primarily of flora, fauna and New Zealand landscape Fleur expresses her quirky view of the world and its interactions. Using a bold colour palette full of energy, the paintings tend to shout rather than whisper. Fleur continues to develop her work both independently and as a student of Elena Nikolaeva. Fleur can be contacted by message on her Instagram page which shows both completed artworks and ongoing art processes by Fleur. Instagram fleur_mitchell |
