‘Jenny Macpherson is an oil painter passionate about this medium.
She left New Zealand many years ago after successfully completing the first year of a Law degree at Victoria University. Jenny felt at the time that a year in London would be refreshing for her and then she would return to the career path which she had started. She finally returned 23 years later not as a lawyer but as a teacher and an artist.
Jenny graduated from Goldsmiths College London with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and also obtained a BA in Art History through study with the Open University.
Her more contemporary works blend abstract and traditional styles. Jenny strives to create meaningful content about the human experience. This strand often presents the viewer with powerful and disconcerting images.
Jenny also derives great satisfaction from painting more traditional landscape and figurative subjects which demand observation and skill. Living in such a beautiful part of New Zealand provides her with plenty of subject matter.
Jenny has massive respect for the great masters of this type of painting and seriously studies their work and techniques. This continually challenges her to raise her standards and enhances the quality of all the strands of Jenny's pictures
