Lynne McDermott
A member of Mangawhai Art Group for a number of years, Lynne has always been interested in art. She had her first opportunity to be creative at Teachers Training College in the 1980s. Teaching art to primary school children was a pleasure and, seeing children’s pride in their works, a bonus. She found teaching easier than creating anything herself.
After a course in watercolours while living in Sydney in the early 2000s, Lynne started producing her own work.
Now living in Mangawhai and having been motivated by Elena Nikolaeva and Wendy Leach, she enjoys using acrylics (especially monochrome and colour) and alkyd oils. She finds it easy to lose herself in painting, so the weeds continue to grow and dinner gets forgotten.
