Raewyn moved permanently to Mangawhai in 2004 after owning a caravan there for the previous 7 years. She joined Mangawhai Artists in 2015 and tutored her first workshop in the Mangawhai Artists Workshop Programme in July 2019.
In 2016 Raewyn closed her company and retired from the health sector. She then built a new studio on her property in Moir Street. At that time her interests include muka work (flax fibre), wood carving, quilling (paper filigree), mosaics, darjit (sculpting), silver clay, flax weaving, and bone carving. Raewyn now concentrates on upskilling herself and learning new arts. She had her first painting/drawing lessons from Wendy Leach in 2020 at the beginning of the first lockdown. Since then, she has also branched out into air dried clay work, and outdoor garden sculpture while retaining her previous skills in quilling, mosaic’s, flax weaving and muka work. Raewyn loves to share her knowledge with all interested people (including children) and is happy to run workshops on any of the above arts at either her studio (for small numbers) or the MAI Workspace.
