Pip was born in Eketahuna then lived in Auckland, Invercargill, Dunedin, Auckland again and finally moved to Magical Mangawhai in 2018 and is loving it
Art has always been part of her life.
Pottery and sculpture were her focus when her two daughters were small, intermixed with contract commercial art and interior design.
In 2000 she started painting still life on large canvases. It was always something she was going to explore more when she had the time….
Eventually that time came, and she decided to try portraiture
She found her passion.
Totally self-taught, she started painting photorealism portraits in acrylics but soon moved to alkyd oils as it gave her more scope to blend and add the fine detail.
She chooses to paint in black and white as she believes this captures the real personality.
She always starts with the eyes as she says that is when the person comes ‘alive’ and by the time she has finished she feels she really knows them
She takes commissions and she specializes in, but is not limited to, babies and young children
