The artist's name "Lys Blanc" means white lily in French and represents purity and rebirth, so does Susanne, my Swiss name, derive from Hebrew and has the same meaning.
With this artist name she honours both of her parent's ancestral influences.
The Swiss/French born artist has studied at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design and majored in Fine Arts in Auckland New Zealand. Her 25 year art career included several group and solo shows in New Zealand.
Her work has also been displayed in New York, Paris, and Miami Basel Art Fair.
In 2020 she set up her business "The Healing Studio in Mangawhai" during challenging times and showcased her work in her studio. She has been selling her work off the easel in her private studio to clients, displayed her artwork in businesses and presented art viewings. She has been involved in the past few Art Trails in Mangawhai and has made her mark with her style and Surreal visual expression to the local community, online and overseas. Her current body of work is now advancing into the Australian Art Market due to her online exposure and determination.

Lys Blanc about her work
My artwork is highly influenced by Surrealism and the process of creation is guided by my dreams, fantasies and intuition. A merely intrinsic perception of the Self, the world and the universe. I moved onto exploring the full body and its context. My visual expression evolved into a subtle erotic and elusive representation of femininity integrated in a surreal world, highlighting metaphors and elements which create an open narrative to stimulate our unconscious perception. The female figure is stylized and repeated in various paintings in size and surroundings and has become a distinctive mark and brand in my artwork. The context and background of the paintings are evolving during the artistic process. My paintings are intuitive downloads and are usually created around the Full moon or in alignment with auspicious star constellations and portal days. The end product is unknown at the start, the process is fluid until completed and the figure represents my journey. |
