Pauline Mann
Glass Art
Pauline Mann loves translucent colour and materials. Stained glass work was a beginning. Distracted by the black lines of lead, Pauline began to experiment and taught herself to paint with glass. Combining her glass work with sculpture, Pauline creates kiln formed art glass pieces in the slumped and fused methods.
Pauline’s work is found in public places adding a splash of colour: the glass windows/inserts in The Dune cafe; the sculptural toilets in Matakana, and private commissions. Her work has been exhibited and is collected in New Zealand and internationally.
Trained at Elam School of Fine Arts, Pauline completed her Diploma of Fine Arts and then her Secondary School Art Teaching Diploma at Epsom Training College. Pauline taught all ages for around twenty five years, including nine years at Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School, which involved further training in art therapy 'Art of Health' at Taruna College in 2004. This work was built on through the Tempera School over the last five years in a course 'Transformation in Light, Darkness and Colour’ studying the techniques of Liane Corot d'Herbois, which have deepened her understanding of the above and informed her glass work greatly.
Pauline continues to support others explore their creativity.
