Kim Boyd - brand name Claykim - works from her studio in Puhoi and has been involved in art 'ever since I could hold a pencil'. She loves storytelling and her work often tells a story, a fable or a legend or reveals quirky characters. She loves colour as well as working monochromatically. When she was studying Fine Art she was lucky to work with Fee Halstead and Bonnie Ntalientalie in the Drakensburg Mountains at Ardmore ceramic studio. Later Kim entered the NZ Body Art Awards and was the recipient of a one-year Diploma studying Special effects under Nori Honda. She enjoys working on larger scale masks and full character wearable art pieces. Kim's holds a BAFA (Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art), a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education), a MAAA (Master of Arts in Arts Management) and a Diploma in Production Design and Sculpting. She lists her biggest achievements being winner of the 2019 NZ Body Art Awards Diploma in Special Effects and completing her MAAA (Master of Arts in Arts Management) from Whitecliffe College of Art and Design in 2008. |
