Bineta Hinton graduated from the Auckland School of Graphic Art. In her early career she held various positions in the fields of Fashion Design, Flooring Design, Graphic Design and Advertising.

After moving on to a career focused solely on painting, and selling through various local galleries since 1991, she held her first solo exhibition at the Studio of Contemporary Art, in Newmarket, Auckland, in 1997.
This was a sellout show.

Subsequently she went on to exhibit extensively in either solo or group shows throughout New Zealand. 

Mangawhai captured Bineta’s soul 34 years ago.

Bineta exhibited at Mangawhai Artists Gallery in April 2019, in the joint exhibition 'Large Works' with Nicola Everett, Wendy Leach and Lynn Middleton.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My current work has grown out of a passion for the land; our land and our people, past and present.
These paintings are about the ones that have gone before, their beliefs and the richness in their myths.
These we should treasure.
