Wendy Clifford
Wendy is a self-taught artist who has been drawing and painting since childhood.She has travelled widely which has enabled her to visit museums and galleries in Europe, USA, Canada,
Wendy has tutored drawing and painting in Auckland venues and continues with workshops in Mangawhai since her move north several years ago. Now a full time artist she has a wide repertoire of art genres, painting in oils, acrylics, mixed media. Recently Wendy has introduced a fresh new energy into her colourful art works.
Her special interest in drawing developed into print making with lino cuts, woodcuts and monotype. Series of prints on various themes are bound together in her hand crafted one off artists books.
Wendy regularly exhibits at Mangawhai Artists gallery. In August 2019 she was one of seven Mangawhai printmakers in "Seven Impressions" exhibition. Her Artist's Statement from this show reads: .‘My recent work in this exhibition was inspired by my reading, the environment and a special interest in drawing. I have been printmaking for many years using very simple techniques, always influenced by the drawing process which is closely related to printmaking.’
