Christine Moginie

A passionate and inspiring teacher who believes art and creativity should be fun, and available for everyone to experience, Christine loves encouraging adults and children alike, to paint and draw using watercolour, pastels, pencils, charcoal, and crayons.

Her love of colour, and the world of nature is evident in her art work, which also has a spiritual and symbolic quality, reflecting her long time involvement in Anthroposophy and Steiner education which began in Sydney NSW Australia in 1983.

With 35 years experience as a practising and exhibiting artist, and teacher,  Christine moved back to NZ from Australia in 2007, settling in Mangawhai in 2013. Having sold multiple artworks throughout Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and China, she also won the Kaipara Arts Awards Painting prize in 2018.

Professional Career:
Christine's professional career began in 1989 as a Steiner and Processwork based Art Therapist, and Holistic Counsellor developing her “Conversations in Colour” practice; also teaching art at the Bowral Steiner School, and setting up Kundanna Art School in Glebe, Sydney. Classes, workshops, and training continued in her  home studio in Mittagong, NSW, Australia
She regularly traveled to China and Vietnam to teach art for the Waldorf/Steiner Kindergarten Teacher Trainings.
Ongoing Friday morning art classes are held at her home in Mangawhai, with a variety of workshops organised throughout the year.

Art Experience:
Initially Christine started working as a fibre artist with screen printing, batik, shibori dyeing, and silk painting, using natural fibres, and dyes. Later she also studied with Helga Muchinsky, Inga Hunter, and Helen Moon in Australia, designed/sewed her own garments which she sold at Cook St Market, Auckland, NZ, and craft shops, and local markets in Sydney and Bowral, NSW, Australia.
Printmaking courses in drypoint, etching, and lino cuts, led on to still life, and life drawing, with Max Miller, and Rex Dupain; hand building with clay with Ande Barrett-Hegan; and short courses and workshops with other well known Australian potters, and fibre artists at the Fibre Forum Conferences in Mittagong. She completed a Visual Arts Certificate at Moss Vale TAFE NSW Australia, in 1993.
