I have lived in the Rodney and Otamatea regions the majority of my life. Born and raised in Warkworth and now living just north of Wellsford. I find this region home for me.
I have been painting off and on for a few years now. I decided 2016 was going to be my year for spending time painting and producing what I love. Art. I Joined the paint club in Mangawhai and I find this beneficial for keeping me experimenting. I also like the idea of recycling and I find this another form of inspiration.
Oil paint is my medium of choice. I love the way you can blend and mix the colours. More recently I have extended my artist talent to incorporate mixed media work using charcoal, pencil, ink and acyclic. Both areas have differing end results from peaceful and tranquil to very contrasted. This I find keeps me interested moving from one to another.
I love semi abstract landscapes and lean towards more abstract work. I find I do mix it up a bit doing both smooth work and a more chunky look, and use different subject matters.
Art for me is very therapeutic; I love the process, and love seeing the end result of something. Hours can vanish quickly when I’m in my studio. I consider it to be a continual learning experience as you discover new ways of expressing your feelings when you put them onto paper.
