Sheridan Rope
Has been living in Mangawhai since 2022 and has recently been elected as Deputy Chair of Mangawhai Artists Inc. Sheridan has spent most of her adult life living and working abroad, most recently in the Aboriginal communities of Ngaanyatjarra in Western Australia with the Aboriginal Artists of the Papulankutja Artist Centre. Returning back to New Zealand, and being very connected to Kaipara and the surrounds over many generations, settling in Mangawhai was a logical choice. Sheridan has a background in secondary and tertiary education, hospitality management, is a commercial boat captain and has a kit of many skills developed over the years. During the many years of travel, Sheridan has been an art collector and though she has dabbled with creative pursuits over the years, in recent times as a developing artist, Sheridan has put her own brush to canvas with acrylics focusing on painting clinker wooden boats hauled up on coastal beaches or at anchor and more recently beach and seascapes. Subject matter close to her heart.
