Sea, Water and Jewels Opened Thursday. 25 January till 7 February Sea, Water and Jewels opened in the Mangawhai Artists Gallery on Moir Street, Mangawhai Village on Thursday evening and is on for two weeks. Three Kaipara artists are exhibiting work inspired by the beauty of our region. Jeanette Vickers, Leslie Cleary and Donna Shadick are offering an exhibition of paintings and jewellery. Leslie’s meticulous seascapes rendered in oils, shine on the walls. ‘If you’re not on the beach, you can gaze at a painting and just walk into it’ said Leslie who captures the beauty of our beaches so there will be a record for future generations. Silver, shells, pearls and precious stones; jewellery by Donna Shadick shimmers alongside Leslie’s paintings and the gallery is glistening with the atmosphere of sunrise and sunset. Simmering summer! In the heat of opening night, water-glass photography by Jeanette Vickers is ultra-bright, vivid and colourful – celebrating summer heat.
