Leslie Cleary – Dawn to Dusk
Donna Shadick - The Horse And Mankind Opens Thursday 10 January 6pm Leslie and Donna return to Mangawhai Artists Gallery with a celebration of landscape and man’s best friend, the painting of both of these artists is enjoyed by visitors to the Gallery. In this latest exhibition, The Horse And Mankind, Donna explains “I am showing how the horse has been a servant and friend to man through the ages. I want to convey for the viewer the beauty, grace, power and mystery that surrounds this companion to mankind”. With evocative titles; French Ploughman, Gypsy Caravan, Circus Stunt Rider; these richly coloured and toned paintings are full of detail, each telling its own story. The inspiration for Leslie’s Dawn to Duskcomes from many happy hours walking along local beaches and chatting to other beach goers. Leslie says, ‘there are many different ideas on what people love about their walks and the best places to get stunning views’. Leslie’s has captured the magical beauty and essence of those happy walks in a series of paintings ranging from dawn till dusk. Leslie revels in the beauty of nature, and loves being able to celebrate it through her art. She especially enjoys capturing local scenes in oils on canvas, enabling people who have lived in the area, moved away, or visited and been captured by the beauty of these places, to take these loved views with them in the form of art to cherish for many years. You are invited to attend the opening night, at 6pm on Thursday 10th January 2019. On until Wednesday 23 January; Mangawhai Artists Gallery is open 10am – 3pm seven days a week. 45 Moir Street Mangawhai Village 0505.
