3D, wood art, poetry, photography
I create art from nature, found objects, driftwood, shells, washed up timber, fishing line and hooks, a bounty of shapes, colours and textures. I also write poetry and love black and white photography. As a young girl growing up in Aotearoa blessed with our diverse coastline I would enjoy beachcombing with my family after a good storm for washed up treasures and still to this day feel delight and wonderment in what Mother Nature tumbles up onto our shorelines. After spending many years in Canada I am now back home in the land of the long white cloud and have fulfilled a lifelong dream to live in Mangawhai where I used to surf and enjoy time on the beach and in the water as a teenager. I belong to Mangawhai waka ama club and enjoy the challenge of paddling out over the bar and up the coast and in the estuary. The feeling of freedom and peace it brings me being out on the water is magical. This journey has been incredibly rewarding and I feel excitement and joy in what the future holds for me. |
