Lindsay Blanchett-Burton

Lindsay Blanchett-Burton is an abstract Artist who recently moved to Mangawhai heads. His first involvement in the creative arts was as a child growing up in a family that was entrenched in the Christchurch art scene. His mother Betty was a painter and a potter so creative materials were always on hand and Lindsay learned to build, throw on the wheel and glaze at a young age.

Lindsay began painting in 2010 with large brightly coloured poured canvasses. He attended classes at Hungry Creek which helped him to explore different media. He has been involved in several group shows and held his first solo exhibition in Matakana in 2012. He had another solo show in Matakana in 2016.
Lindsay's work is process based, most works are acrylic on canvas. He draws inspiration from Zen principles and eastern calligraphy. Lately he has also been working in ink focussing on significant gestural strokes. This body of work is fluid and dynamic capturing the movement and energy of the artists creative strokes.
