Donna sells her work locally and is happy to take commissions for her jewellery for that special occasion.

Featured Artist: Wendy Clifford

by Julia West

Artist Wendy Clifford is a self-taught painter and printmaker who worked as an art tutor for many years running workshops for pupils, teachers, and special needs kids. “I do all kinds of art – painting and printmaking as well. I like to have room to make a mess. I paint with oils or acrylic ink which I use in exactly the same way as watercolour but I get more intense colours because of the resin base. Acrylic inks are very sturdy and much more reliable from a conservation point of view.

Featured Artist: Elena Nikolaeva

by Julia West

As far back as Elena can remember she has played with different objects and materials found in her local environment. Perhaps an odd piece of firewood or a rusty metal machinery part discovered in her father's workshop. She loved to touch them, to feel their texture and weight, to smell their aroma.

Featured Artist: Joy Agar - (Passed Away January 2012)

I caught up with Joy in her shed (studio) working on a commissioned Stingray for the Mangawhai Museum.
